Team Daytona Provides a Meal and Some Cheer
Executive Kitchen Manager Bobby Brown and his Daytona TASC Force team came to the aid of the local battered women’s shelter. Because of the volume of TASC Force stories, this event occurred during the holiday season last year, but the story is timeless and the kindness of our team remains continues to be so relevant. Here’s his story:
On Christmas day team Daytona executed its first ever TASC Force event by preparing a holiday dinner for a local battered women’s shelter. A team of about 20 team members gathered and spent the early afternoon preparing a holiday dinner for a group of local women and children who really deserved a special surprise during this holiday season. The entire team member staff got involved in the days leading up to the event as manager Vivian Benefield put together a secret Santa list to ensure each child and mother had a present to open on Christmas day. We were able to give each child a wrapped present, Beanie Baby and a bag of holiday candies and with a check from our BJ’s Foundation, each mother received a $30 gift card.
This was a great opportunity for our team members to see what BJ’s is all about by supporting our involvement with the community. The event was a great success, and the shelter reported to me that in its 25 year history BJ’s was the first restaurant in the area to offer such a commitment to these women and children.
