TASC Force News

Throughout the country, and as opportunities arise, the BJ’s Foundation offers support for our team members’ community volunteering efforts through a program called BJ’s TASC Force (Team Action to Support Communities). Our restaurant team members volunteer to support community events such as helping to paint houses for needy seniors, assisting in community clean-up campaigns, working at community blood drives, helping with Special Olympics programs, building houses with Habitat for Humanity, supporting local food banks or volunteering at marathons and other charitable fundraisers. TASC Force volunteers are rewarded with service pins and provided with complimentary t-shirts. In support of our TASC Force team members’ volunteerism, our Foundation has written checks to more than 60 charities.

In just its second year our TASC Force program was honored to receive the prestigious Restaurant Neighbor Award in 2009 from the National Restaurant Association. This award recognizes the most community-minded restaurant chain in the nation.

We thank Marsha Albert of BJ’s in Aurora for this story:  Earlier this year, TASC Force team Aurora bundled up and headed for the Rocky Mountain Food Bank to help package food for needy families.  Our team inspected, weighed and carefully boxed frozen meats to ensure that every family had a variety of quality, healthy food.  The day was full of laughs and good conversation which made time pass quickly.  Not only did we help less fortunate families, we also bonded and met new friends.  At the end of the day, the Aurora team con

The Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Society has been the recipient of several BJ’s TASC Force teams’ participation in its fundraising walks through the years. The latest team to support this charity was organized by Janet Montez of BJ’s Tucson/Broadway. Here is Janet’s accounting of the day: The walk we did in Tucson was rewarding and fun. The weather was not the best for such a walk as it was chilly and raining off and on, but my team members showed up and supported the cause.

Two Miles of Inspiring People Along the Way

Yun Cha, Dining Room Manager in Reno shares this story with us: Our TASC Force served dinner to over 85 homeless men, women and children outside the Reno-Sparks Gospel Mission and Family Shelter. It was a great privilege to represent the BJ's family in taking part in feeding people who are too often pushed to the margins of our society. Our kitchen team did a great job in making over 40 pizzas, 10 pans of fettuccini, and lots of Caesar and house salads.
